Global Payments Asia-Pacific launches China UnionPay card acceptance service in Taiwan

Card processing company Global Payments Asia-Pacific has introduced the China UnionPay (CUP) card acceptance service in Taiwan.

The initiative is aimed at mainland Chinese tourists who can now pay for items and services in Taiwan with their CUP cards at merchants served by Global Payments. Merchants in Taiwan can add the CUP card acceptance functionality to their Global Payments POS terminals through a free re-programming.

Global Payments CUP card acceptance programme is also available in Hong Kong, Macau and Malaysia. Global Payments Asia-Pacific is a joint venture between the US-based payment processor Global Payments and The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC), serving merchants in 11 countries and territories across Asia.
