NetSpend launches virtual card for US underbanked consumers

US card-based prepaid financial products developer NetSpend introduces a virtual card for the underbanked population in the US.

The card can be linked to an existing prepaid debit card account and a range of online financial management and budgeting tools including a visual spending history report, online budgeting application and budgeting report card.

Available to current cardholders through the company’s online account centre at NetSpend.com, the NetSpend virtual card can be can be accessed - or created - via a mobile phone and customers can use it for any card-not-present transaction. The budgeting application and “report card” enables customers to establish spending limits by category and to monitor their money via cardholder-set spending targets by setting up text or email alerts which notify them when they are close to budget.
