Western Union teams up with Advent Financial for tax refunds on prepaid cards

Friday 1 February 2013 10:15 CET | News

Western Union has entered an agreement with US-based financial services provider Advent Financial to provide access to tax refunds on prepaid cards at tax preparer locations across the US.

Under the agreement, cardholders filing their federal and state tax returns at tax-return preparation offices offering financial products through Advent can choose to receive their refunds on the Get It Prepaid MasterCard, a reloadable (GPR) prepaid card provided by Western Union and Advent.

Cardholders can reload their cards at Western Union Agent across the US by transferring money from a bank account, via direct deposit or by directing a Western Union Money Transfer transaction directly onto the card. Existing Western Union prepaid cardholders can also direct their tax refunds onto their prepaid cards at any tax preparation company or when filing their own taxes.

In recent news, Western Union has extended its money transfer network in Zimbabwe, enabling consumers to send and receive money within the country without the need for a bank account.
