Banks in China team up to issue eIDs

Wednesday 10 June 2015 08:16 CET | News

China’s Ministry of Public Security has started working with banks in China to issue virtual identity electronic identification or eID.

The eID is based on code that is theoretically undecipherable. The symbols are meaningless even if it is decoded. The eID can be used for all online activities and can be obtained at banks.

It is not just China that is enforcing online security measures. US president Barack Obama drafted a National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC) in January 2011 in order to establish security for online identity.
