Monday 2 July 2012 08:42 CET | News

Dutch digital security company Gemalto has acquired a controlling interest in Plastkart, a Turkish provider of personalization services and smart cards.

Gemalto will now apply to the Turkish Capital Market Board (CMB) in order to fulfill its obligation to make a public offer for the remainder of the shares that it does not already own. The Information Sheet describing the terms of the offer will be made available after review and approval by the CMB. Following the acquisition, the two companies will continue to collaborate until now. Gemalto has been a Plastkart partner since 2003.

Gemalto delivers electronic passports and identity cards, two-factor authentication devices for online protection, smart credit/debit and contactless payment cards, as well as subscriber identification modules (SIM) and universal integrated circuit cards (UICC) in mobile phones.
