Oberthur Technologies, Mexican Government to supply identity solution

Oberthur Technologies, a France-based provider of security and identification solutions and services, and Mexican Ministry of Foreign Relations (Secretaria de Relaciones Exteriories) have entered an agreement to supply an identity solution for the new Mexican passport.

Under the deal, Oberthur Technologies is supporting the Mexican government in the implementation of a secure passport for all citizens, through a solution for state-of-the-art personalization.

As a player in the identity documents market and partner of numerous governments in South America for identity solutions, Oberthur Technologies has provided identity documents in Brazil, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru, Nicaragua and now Mexico. To serve customers and their specific requirements in South America, Oberthur Technologies operates several service centers throughout the region, including one in Mexico from where over 17 million personalized secure cards were issued in 2012.

Oberthur Technologies was founded in 1984 as a technology provider. The company delivers systems development, smart cards services including payment cards, SIM cards, access cards, NFC and secure identity documents. The company also offers solutions such as the Smart PIN, where the customer receives his banking card PIN via SMS.
