SecureKey Technologies, a Canada-based online authentication services provider, has raised USD 30 million in a funding round led by Intel Capital, the global investment organization of Intel. Other participants include Visa, MasterCard, Discover Financial Services, investment company Rogers Venture Partners and telecommunication company Telus.

The company will use the new capital to fund the launch of its online and mobile authentication services. SecureKey is currently collaborating with Intel to deploy its services in Intel Identity Protection Technology (IPT) beginning on Ultrabook devices later in 2012. In 2011, SecureKey has launched a new authentication service for the Government of Canada that allows Canadians to use their bank authentication credentials to obtain access to online government services.

SecureKey develops hardware and software solutions that extend the power of chip-based identity and payment credentials to online and mobile transactions. By embedding its technology in a variety of device platforms, laptops, tablets and mobile phones, SecureKey can enable tap/click to pay and tap/click to authenticate capabilities and provide proxies to stored credentials in device or cloud-based digital wallets.
