Ariba operates the Ariba Network, which provides cloud-based applications, a community of partners through which companies can discover, qualify, connect and collaborate with trading partners as well as other services that are only available to members of the community, such as analytics, financing and ratings.

According to the same source, the deal is expected to close at the end of August 2012 and has already been approved unanimously by the Ariba board.

In September 2011, SAP acquired hosted B2B integration services provider Crossgate.
