Amazon adopts streaming subscription music

Monday 13 June 2016 11:48 CET | News

Amazon has adopted streaming subscription music by launching a standalone USD 9.99 per month service with a full catalogue of tracks.

The new service will supercede the streaming service offered to its Prime subscribers, thedrum.com reports.

Amazons hardware Echo has shifted more than 3 million copies of its voice activation service since its US launch in June 2016. Analysts see this as a natural extension for any music streaming service.

Amazon is currently locked in licencing negotiations with key rights holders ahead of the launch, which is anticipated to take place before autumn.
