Amazon sparks drone deliveries craze with first airbourne package

Thursday 15 December 2016 13:48 CET | News

Amazon has just sent its first automated drone en route to a customer in Cambridgeshire, UK for a delivery in just 13 minutes.

Chief executive Jeff Bezos previously mentioned that drone deliveries will become “as common as delivery trucks”, although he added the regulatory side of the industry needs to be developed, drapersonline.com reports, citing The Telegraph.

Amazon established a partnership with the UK government in July 2016, which aims to allow both parties to understand how drones could be used safely in the logistics industry. Google is also testing drone deliveries in the US.
