The majority of Baby Boomers and Millennials are worried they will become victims of online fraud. Almost 77 percent of Baby Boomers (over 55 years old) and 62 percent of Millennials (ages 18 to 24) believe their online information is misused online. These are the findings of a study conducted by The Ponemon Institute and released by Mashable.

According to the study, the majority of the mentioned groups do not consider online shopping a very secure activity.

Only 34 percent of Millennials and 19 percent of Baby Boomers feel very secure when completing online transactions. The study also reveals the fact that 50 percent of Millennials and 41 percent of Baby Boomers take into account the security level of an online market before making purchases.

With regard to e-commerce activities via mobile devices, 60 percent of Millennials have declared they have made online purchases, while only 25 percent of Baby Boomers have used a smartphone or tablet for such activities.

The study has also pointed out the fact that both groups believe mobile devices to be more reliable when it comes to online fraud protection.

The study is based on a sample of 722 US internet users and did not include respondents aged between 26 and 54.
