B2C e-commerce in China, especially in the luxury goods sector, is expected to increase by more than 30 percent annually between 2010 and 2016, recent statistics indicate.

According to a survey by German market research company yStats.com, an increasing number of Chinese consumers use social networks to purchase products online, with m-commerce also gaining in importance.

The same source point out that countries such as Japan, South Korea and increasingly China are reaching ever growing internet user rates and thereby also increasing B2C e-commerce sales. However, a different research by Enterprise Innovation shows that the share of online shoppers as a proportion of internet users in China remains low. Data also unveil that there are distinct differences in the development of internet usage and online retail in Asia.
