The e-commerce market in Thailand is expected to witness a 40 percent increase in 2009, as a growing number of local companies turn to the online channel to boost revenue, asianewsnet.net reports.

According to the same source, merchants who have already been active on the e-commerce market for some time have registered an increase in the number of customers and transactions. Local online retailer Tarad.com, which has nearly 150,000 online merchants has recorded almost 240,000 product transactions during the first six months of 2009, as compared to 190,000 in H1 2008. ToHome.com which makes mobile phones, health and beauty products and home furniture available to its 150,000 customers, registers almost 4,000 to 5,000 online transactions per month.
