India: CAIT calls for online retail regulations

Wednesday 15 October 2014 14:20 CET | News

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) will launch a nationwide movement, demanding the government to create a regulator and regulations to govern the online retail market in India.

CAIT justified its undertakings claiming that unrealistic prices, unfair competition and unhealthy business practices have had a negative impact om brick-and-mortar businesses, indiatimes.com reports.

CAIT has recently threatened to present the complaints before the Supreme Court and Competition Commission of India (CCI) by 31 October 2014 if the government failed to act on complaints of alleged predatory pricing and unfair trade practices by e-tailers like Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal.
