Malaysia maintained its strong position globally, ranking 21st out of 140 countries in terms of global connectedness, which measures cross-border flows of trade, capital, information and people, recent research points out.

It also ranked the third most connected country in Southeast Asia and one of the four Southeast Asian economies, including Singapore and Cambodia, that stood out for its high depth scores, according to the `Third Global Connectedness Index` issued by DHL logistics company, dailyexpress.com.my reports.

Malaysian companies invested USD 41 billion (MYR 132.8 billion) abroad in 2013.
