MasterCard Europe announces debit card strategy for e-commerce

Friday 4 June 2010 00:20 CET | News

MasterCard Europe has outlined its Maestro e-commerce strategy with enhancements of the Maestro debit card product to enable e-commerce transactions for more than 300 million cardholders in Europe.

Turkish bank TEB, a division of BNP Paribas, is the first issuer to offer the display card to consumers as part of the Maestro eCommerce authentication programme that will be launched in July 2010 in Turkey. The Display Card integrates a small display window and touch-sensitive button, enabling the cardholder to see information on the small visual display, such as account balance, dynamic passcode, current loyalty points balance, list of recent transactions, updated credit/spending limit and the amount of the current transaction.

Swiss-based security company NagraID Security is MasterCard`s technology partner for the programme.
