Wednesday 13 June 2012 09:24 CET | News

PayPal has revealed plans to ink contracts with cable operator Comcast and set-top box maker TiVo to enable consumers to buy directly from television commercials or make donations related to content.

In addition, they may also be able to download coupons from television ads to their PayPal wallets. The company has named this initiative “t-commerce”. PayPal has not revealed any information about the rollout date.

According to a PayPal survey from October 2011, 49 percent of television subscribers wanted to buy goods and services associated with the shows they watch on television. Those consumers want to make purchases either directly from their TVs or via smartphones and tablet computers, Scott Dunlap, vice president of emerging opportunities, cited by online media outlet internetretailer.com, has mentioned. Moreover, 30 percent of respondents indicated they would use PayPal to make those purchases.
