Snapchat starts ecommerce ads programme

Tuesday 3 May 2016 09:57 CET | News

Snapchat, a messaging app, started an ecommerce ads progamme in April 2016, using Target and Lancôme running formats.

Users are shown a 10-second call-to-action spot, after which they can choose to swipe up for more product info or down to a mobile shopping page, adexchanger.com reports. However, the most important deals are being made by telcos, according to Verizon/AOL and Telenor/Tapad, the source cites. Telcos ad techs are attributing to (1) the value of TV, which is providing a host of  data, emerging connectivity and advertising dollars, and (2) to public markets that don`t believe in nonplatform start-up ad tech.

Comcast has tapped Snapchat and BuzzFeed to produce live, behind-the-scenes video, being the first time that NBC has allowed other platforms to distribute live Olympics clips and highlights.
