South Europe: Spain is the major "conquistador" in terms of ecommerce sales

With total ecommerce sales of EUR 12.9 billion in 2012, Spain was the major player in the Southern European region, ahead of Italy (EUR 9.5 billion) and Turkey (EUR 5.4 billion), according to a report issued by Ecommerce Europe, the European umbrella organization for online retailers.

In addition, Southern Europe’s year-on-year growth was 27.9% in 2012 and, as a result, the region outperforms the European (+19%) and EU-28 (+18%) averages.

Figures included in Ecommerce Europe`s reports are based on the Global Online Measurement Standard for E-commerce (GOMSEC).
