In the UK, 45 percent of consumers prefer to shop for fashion items online, rather than in-store, a recent survey has unveiled.

The survey has pointed out that 90 percent of consumers have not interacted with any fashion retailers Facebook, Twitter or mobile website. Of the few that have had interactions with a fashion retailers social side, most of the online consumers have indicated that they were looking for offers (49 percent) or to enter competitions, while a third just wanted an answer to a product or service question. A small number (22 percent) have joined to engage in conversation with other fans of a fashion brand and friends.

According to the study, 42 percent have mentioned that they would like to see more online kiosks in-store. Furhermore, if online consumers are not buying, they are window shopping. Just over two-thirds of the respondents (64 percent) research fashion items online before heading to the store.

eBay-owned GSI Commerce has surveyed 2,000 online adult consumers in the UK about their online fashion shopping habits.
