US-based mobile payments services provider Fortumo has entered a partnership with Kyivstar, a mobile operator in Central and Eastern Europe.

This partnership allows 25 million Kyivstar customers to make payments in games and applications in Kyivstar’s App Club app store without using a credit card.

One of the games to be published using Fortumo mobile payments in App Club is ‘Cut the Rope: Originals’ from the Russian game development studio Zeptolab. Kyivstar customers are set to be able to unlock features and levels in the game by using mobile payments.

Founded in 2007, Fortumo is a developer and mobile payments provider, enabling app and game developers to monetize users via micro-payments. Fortumo is backed by Intel Capital and Greycroft Partners and has offices in Estonia, San Francisco and Beijing.

Kyivstar, a subsidiary of telecommunication services provider VimpelCom, provides mobile communications services in GSM-900 and GSM-1800 standards, roaming services in 195 countries, services of broadband internet access on the basis of FTTB and services of fixed-line telephony for businesses.

In recent news, Fortumo has appointed Jacob Hauskens as Vice President of Sales & Business Development, based in San Francisco.
