Korea: KT goes live with NFC payments system

South Korean wireless services provider KT has reportedly rolled out an NFC payments service, in a bid to allow local users to pay for goods via their smartphones, media outlet androidcommunity.com reports.

According to the source, the NFC system is set to be available on Galaxy S II smartphones powered by global device manufacturer Samsung. Moreover, the source reports that the recently-released NFC payments system is dubbed olleh touch and is expected to be available for use at Korean grocery store Lotte Mart.

In February 2011 , Japanese mobile operator NTT DOCOMO has entered an agreement with KT in a bid to use NFC technologies to develop cross-border mobile payment services.
