Under the terms of the deal, Loblaw has started accepting Interac Flash at select stores. A contactless debit payment service, Interac Flash enables Interac Debit cardholders to make contactless transactions at the point-of-sale (POS).
Approximately 14,000 Interac Flash enabled terminals are set to be deployed at Loblaw banner store locations across Canada. The deployment is set to be managed by Global Payments, an electronic transaction processing companies. The terminals allow for contactless payment for holders of Interac debit cards issued by Scotiabank, RBC Royal Bank, TD Canada Trust, Sunova Credit Union, Affinity Credit Union and Conexus Credit Union.
In recent news, Interac has completed its first Near Field Communication (NFC) mobile debit transaction in Canada in partnership with McDonalds restaurants, the participating merchant, RBC Royal Bank, the participating financial institution, Moneris Solutions, the payment service provider enabling the transactions and BlackBerry, the mobile device provider.
