Mobile payments account for small amount of money spent in US

Friday 9 September 2016 09:24 CET | News

Mobile payments represent only a small amount of the money spent in US retailers, according to some earlier reports in the New York Times.

According to reports mobile phone transactions represent a mere 0.2% of the USD 4.35 trillion of US retail sales leaving credit cards the dominant and most favoured payments method amongst consumers, finance.yahoo.com reports.

Consumers consider that security issues and inconvenience in using smartphones are the two biggest reasons they choose not to use their phones for payments. They find using a debit or credit card easier.
