Seamless SEQR m-payment solution goes live at GarantiBank in Romania

Wednesday 23 October 2013 09:02 CET | News

Swedish mobile commerce software company Seamless and Romanian financial institution GarantiBank have officially made Seamless’ SEQR mobile payment service available to Romanian customers.

SEQR enables consumers with a smartphone to pay in stores, at restaurants, parking lots and online, transfer money, store receipts digitally and receive offers and promotions through a mobile app. Users have to scan or tap (using NFC technology) a QR-code at checkout using the SEQR-app and approve the purchase by entering a PIN code.

Downloaded from iOS AppStore or Google Play, the application connects the user’s current GarantiBank account to the retailers’ cash register or online system via a QR code.

Approximately 200 stores are already signed and Subway Upground, the Bata and For Family networks, Bierhaus 67 and AVE Hotels in Bucharest are among the merchants that are live at the launch. SEQR is also set to be implemented nationwide in the Nike, Collective, Folli Follie, Converse, KIX, Calvin Klein Jeans, Star Place and Arsis networks, as well as Tabiet teahouse and Antipa coffee shop.

GarantiBank has 300,000 retail customers nationwide in Romania and is a universal bank owned by Turkiye Garanti Bankasi (TGB), a private financial institution in Turkey.

In recent news, Seamless has entered into an agreement with Microsoft to launch its SEQR mobile payment solution for both Windows 8 and Windows Phone and integrate it with Windows Phone Wallet.
