US-based electronic payment services provider VeriFone has entered an agreement with Israel-based card issuer and acquirer Isracard to distribute SAIL encrypted card readers for iOS and Android devices in Israel.

Under the agreement, Isracard is set to market a customized SAIL solution to its own credit cards holders, SOHO merchants and individual professionals in Israel. Isracard customers using iOS or Android devices will receive a free mobile application and card reader that securely encrypts card data with each transaction.

SAIL is an open platform that enables mobile application developers and technology providers to build their own payment or marketing solutions on top of VeriFone’s infrastructure.

The SAIL open platform provides merchants with a series of features which include small business accounting platforms, mobile marketing tools, inventory management services and front-end POS platforms.

In recent news, VeriFone has entered an agreement with owner and operator of customer convenience stores Valero Retail Holdings to implement VeriFone’s Paymedia for Secure PumpPAY in an initial pilot at corporate-operated sites in the Austin, Texas, area.
