Electronic money institution Yapital has entered a collaboration with retail- and travel group REWE to provide a mobile payment service to Germany-based customers.

With Yapital, REWE customers will be able to pay with their smartphones, by scanning a QR-code with their Yapital app at the stores checkouts to complete payment.

The roll-out of Yapital across REWE food retail stores and to consumer markets is set to start in November 2013.

Yapital is an European cashless cross-channel payment service across all channels including stationary, mobile and online as well as via invoice. Yapital was founded in 2011 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Otto-Group. Yapital is licensed as an electronic money institution in Luxembourg.

In recent news, German provider of hotel software HotelNetSolutions has inked an agreement with Yapital.
