The number of Hungarians who use online banking services has reached 2 million, according to statements made on 24 March 2009 by Lajos Bartha, director of the National Bank of Hungary.
Furthermore, an online poll conducted by Hungarian online financial information portal Privatbankar.hu which surveyed 13,000 active internet banking users has found that almost 75 percent of them rarely visit brick and mortar bank branches. Instead, they expressed a preference for conducting banking transactions online from their home or office.
