US virtual currency developer Zeevex has won a contract from Beckett Media, a US publisher of sports and collectible platforms, to offer the latter a virtual currency micropayment service.
Under the terms of the deal, customers can purchase digital versions of articles from Beckett's print publications via the Zeevex open virtual currency. The Zeevex virtual currency Xtreme Online Game Card integrates social network plug-ins, parental controls, and is to support micro-transactions as low as USD 0.05. After purchasing a Zeevex Xtreme Online Game Card, customers can redeem it on Zeevex official website and create a Digital Locker, which includes Zeev Tokens, a digital currency that can be used for micro-transactions. Via the Zeevex Digital Locker, users can store their Beckett articles. Furthermore, they can buy articles for friends, which can also be delivered across social networks including Twitter, Facebook, Bebo and MySpace. The Zeevex Xtreme Online Game Card is to be made available at the same retailers that carry Beckett publications.
Beckett Media publishes more than 30 publications, including magazines and books for online video games and collectibles, youth oriented entertainment and collectible magazines covering sports and price guide books.
