VietUnion signs e-wallet service agreement with four local banks Thursday 4 June 2009 | 02:11 PM CET

Online payments services provider VietUnion has won a contract from four Vietnamese banks on the use of the electronic wallet service Payoo, Viet Nam News agency reports.

According to the agreement closed by the the Viet Nam Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), Viet Nam Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank), Sai Gon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank) and Nam Viet Commercial Joint Stock Bank (NaviBank) with VietUnion, Vietnamese customers will be able to use the Payoo service for online purchases and pay without disclosing their credit card or personal bank details on the internet. Customers will be able to register their e-wallet accounts at one of the four banks participating in the project and transfer funds from a banking account to a Payoo account via the mobile or internet channel.

In April 2009, VietUnion announced the launch of a Payoo service trial with the State Bank of Viet Nam.
