Barclays offers contactless-enabled debit cards to business customers Tuesday 9 March 2010 | 03:09 PM CET

British financial services provider Barclays has made commercial contactless debit cards available to its business customers.

Starting from March, the Barclays business customers set to receive new or re-issued cards will find contactless technology incorporated in them as standard. The cards enable customers to pay for low-value transactions by holding the card over a reader, without the need to enter a PIN or insert the card into a terminal.

In the UK, there are over six million persons who own a contactless-enabled Barclays VISA debit card. The maximum limit for contactless card transactions has recently increased from GBP 10 to GBP 15.
