Mobile Commerce to provide location-based search service for O2 Money Load & Go cardholders Tuesday 8 September 2009 | 12:19 PM CET

UK location-based services (LBS) and mobile content integration provider Mobile Commerce has teamed up with O2 Money, a subsidiary of Telefónica Europe, a European telecommunications company operating under the brand name of O2.

Under the terms of the agreement between the parties, Mobile Commerce is set to deploy its location-based search capabilities for O2 Money prepaid cardholders, allowing them to access an SMS service to find the nearest available location where they can load cash onto their O2 Load & Go Money cards.

Mobile Commerce’s technology enables O2 customers to find their nearest cash load point by texting the word LOAD to a special number. Users will then receive a free text message with details of the nearest cash load location based on their current location. Aimed at teenagers and young adults, the O2 Load & Go is a prepaid Visa card which allows users to add cash at over 20,000 locations across the UK and spend it online or in Visa-accepting store locations.
