The NFC Forum, a non-profit industry association whose aim is to advance the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, has added 19 new members from 14 countries.
The members come from different sectors of the NFC ecosystem and several industries such as semiconductor and terminal manufacturing, higher education, service provision, compliance and testing and implementation of systems.
The NFC Forum`s recently appointed members are two principal members, nine associate members, four implementer members and four non-profits.
NFC is a wireless connectivity technology that enables two-way interactions between electronic devices. The NFC technology allows consumers to perform contactless transactions, access digital content and connect devices. NFC is compatible with contactless cards and readers already deployed worldwide.
The NFC Forum was launched in 2004 by mobile communications, semiconductor and consumer electronics companies.
