Saudi Arabia: Al Rajhi Bank issues 15,000 cards per day with Gemalto's instant EMV card issuance service Tuesday 7 February 2012 | 01:19 PM CET

Saudi Arabia-based financial services provider Al Rajhi Bank has completed the main phase of the Dexxis Instant Issuance deployment program for on-the-spot EMV card delivery, with 15,000 cards issued daily through Gemalto's instant EMV card issuance service.

Gemalto’s services include EMV DDA payment cards, training, end-to-end project management, maintenance and support. DDA is an authentication technology whereby the smart card chip creates a signature for each transaction.

The service redirects card requests from one branch to another and it retains central issuance as a back-up system. This has enabled Al Rajhi bank to issue half a million EMV chip cards on-the-spot to customers over the last six months.

Dutch digital security company Gemalto delivers electronic passports and identity cards, two-factor authentication devices for online protection, smart credit/debit and contactless payment cards, as well as subscriber identification modules (SIM) and universal integrated circuit cards (UICC) in mobile phones.
