7.1 million adults in the UK have never used the internet, with 45 percent of them being over the age of 75, recent statistics indicate.

According to data from the Office for National Statistics, only 33 percent of those under 75 have ever browsed the internet. The same source mentions that, in contrast, almost all citizens with ages between 16 and 24 have used the internet.

Results point out that men are more likely to be technologically savvy than women, with 88 percent of men and 84 percent of women ever going online.

The figures also show that since 2011, the number of internet users has increased by 2.9 million and it currently reaches 43.6 million adults.
