Apigee acquires direct carrier billing technology from WAC

Apigee, a provider of API products and technology, has entered an agreement with the Wholesale Applications Community (WAC), online media outlet venturebeat.com reports.

According to the source, Apigee is set to acquire WAC’s direct carrier billing technology which allows e-businesses to charge customers for digital content through their mobile phone bill instead of a credit card. Additionally, Apigee is set to acquire WAC’s web runtime, a mobile platform that allows developers to build applications that run on different devices and carriers.

The Wholesale Applications Community is an organisation that develops an open platform to allow mobile software developers to write applications usable on a variety of devices, operating systems and networks.
