Computop, the global payment service provider (PSP), has added Chinese third-party online payment platform Alipay to its Paygate payment platform.

Following this cooperation, Computop Paygate customers will be able to provide Alipay as a payment option to their customers. Companies will be able to sell to the Chinese market without setting up a Chinese bank account, doing credit checks or validating buyer profiles.

According to a survey carried out by China IntelliConsulting, around 77.4 percent of first time online shoppers in China choose Alipay to pay for their first online purchase. 88.8 percent of the survey respondents named Alipay their most frequently used online payment tool. As of December 2011, Alipay had more than 650 million registered accounts.

In recent news, Computop has opened a new office in Hong Kong, expanding its Paygate Payment Services Network to Asian markets. The office is headed up by country manager, Xixi Wang, who has a solid track record of developing international business for Computop.

The Computop Paygate is a multi-channel payment platform that provides online retailers with payment and fraud prevention services for international markets. E-commerce solutions such as Demandware, hybris, Magento and Oxid support Computop Paygate as a preferred payment service solution for global payment processing. In addition, Computop Paygate has been integrated into SAPs Business ByDesign business software to provide global payment processing.
