Dubai e-government authority sees 21% rise in online payments collection volumes in H1 2012

ePay, the online payments service made available to Dubai consumers by central authorities for the payment of government fees, has seen a 21 percent rise in the volume of payments collected in H1 2012 compared to the same interval of the previous year, media outlet khaleejtimes.com reports.

In the interval between January and June 2012, the ePay service allowed Dubai consumers to pay a total volume of fees adding up to approximately USD 545 million (around 2 billion UAE Dirhams). According to the same source, the number of transactions processed in the interval under review reached over 1.6 million. The preferred payment instruments for consumers were credit and debit cards, the source reports.

The Dubai e-government authority also allows consumers to pay their government fees online via their mobile devices. In the January and June 2012 interval, over 15,000 transactions were carried out via its mobile payment gateway mPay.
