Global business to consumer (B2C) online shopping transactions are estimated to have increased to GBP 599 billion, a recent study has unveiled.

According to the IMRG Global E-commerce Overview 2012, this represents an almost 20 percent increase. Results indicate that the world leaders in B2C e-commerce are the US, the UK and Japan.

The same source mentions that the faster growing e-commerce markets are the Asia-Pacific areas, with China alone accounting for 130 percent surge in sales in 2011. In Europe, the fastest growing markets are set to be France, Italy, Spain, Russia, Turkey and Poland.

The findings also point out that the Latin America markets will be led by Brazil and Mexico and the Israel and United Arab Emirates will be at the forefront of e-commerce developments in the Middle East.
