Only 29 percent of Italian companies have a web-based business unit, a recent study indicates.

According to the E-Commerce report from Business International, published by online media outlet Telecompaper, 74 percent of companies still prefer to sell via brick-and-mortar stores. Data also points out that the internet has ranked second as a sales channel (58 percent), followed by channel shop (13 percent), social networks (12 percent) and mobile networks (9 percent).

The survey is based on a sample of 200 Italian companies, of which 34 percent have declared have no intention of setting up an electronic sales point in the future.
