MasterCard selects Borderlinx to expand global e-commerce platform Tuesday 31 August 2010 | 03:57 PM CET

MasterCard has entered a partnership with Borderlinx, a global provider of e-commerce management services. Under the terms of the deal, MasterCard’s customer financial institutions will gain the ability to offer their cardholders around the world access to the Borderlinx global e-commerce portal.

The new collaboration is set to enable consumers to make online purchases using their MasterCard-branded cards, initially at the US and UK retail websites. Cardholders will be able to leverage the Borderlinx platform, which incorporates global e-commerce capabilities, by establishing a local address for foreign shoppers, applying tax, duty and delivery charges, and integrating with shipping services.

Determined to drive the growth of its e-commerce business in both existing and new markets, MasterCard has recently unveiled its intention to acquire European payment services provider DataCash Group for GBP 333 million .

DataCash offers global processing payment services within a single interface. In addition, the company develops and provides various services such as fraud prevention capabilities, alternative payment options and back-office reconciliation for merchants selling their products via multiple channels.
