PayPal opens third business unit in Ireland

PayPal has opened a new business unit in Ireland. The third operations centre is based on Dundalk and it will handle customer service, risk operations, merchant services and sales across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

PayPals European operation centre was opened in Dublin in 2003. The Dublin centre manages all direct customer contact for PayPals businesses across Europe, the Middle East and Africa and its nearly 42 million active accounts in these regions. In 2009, PayPal invested EUR 15 million in the establishment of a European Centre of Excellence in Blanchardstown, with the support of IDA Ireland.

In recent news, PayPal has revealed plans to ink contracts with cable operator Comcast and set-top box maker TiVo to enable consumers to buy directly from television commercials or make donations related to content.
