SMS money transfer receives 95 percent Irish consumer approval - survey Tuesday 9 December 2008 | 02:41 PM CET

95 percent of Irish consumers would use SMS money transfer and SMS top-up services if introduced by operators, according to a survey.

The study was conducted in Kilkenny, Ireland amongst prepaid mobile users aged between 18 and 55. After demonstrations of SMS money transfer and SMS top-up services, survey participants were asked how likely were they to use such services if introduced by their operators. All attendees were given EUR 30 phone credit for attending. The survey was conducted by provider of messaging services Anam Mobile and P2P payment services company TR2 Communications. Anam has previously estimated that operators could globally increase their revenues by at least EUR 3.6 billion by introducing SMS money transfer services. Anam affirms that SMS top-up services are more profitable than current voucher schemes which cost the operators as much as 9 percent of the voucher value.
