Stripe releases Stripe Connect to enable users to accept online payments

Thursday 11 October 2012 09:57 CET | News

US-based online payments processor Stripe has rolled out the Stripe Connect, a new version of its payments service which enables users of any website to accept credit card payments.

As a result, those who sell on an online marketplace, or use an online store service, a website creator, or invoicing system can receive payments via Stripe. The company expects the new service to increase the number of people who can accept payments and therefore boost volume of payments across the web. The newly introduced system also features a series of capabilities including accounting, CRM online analytics tools and others.

Stripe has raised USD 38 million, including USD 20 million in July 2012 from PayPal co-founders Peter Thiel, Max Levchin and Elon Musk, as well as Sequoia Capital (Michael Moritz is on Stripe’s board), Andreessen Horowitz, SV Angel, Aaron Levie, Elad Gil, Chris Dixon, Geoff Ralston, Paul Buchheit and Y Combinator.

In recent news, Stripe has entered the Canadian market, expanding its business operations into the first non-US country.
