Spanish telecommunication services provider Telefónica and MasterCard have made available their Wanda mobile money service for unbanked consumers in Argentina, online media outlet nasdaq.com reports.

According to the source, the mobile payment service is linked to a mobile wallet or prepaid account that allows Movistar customers to make money transfers, mobile airtime top-ups, bill payments and retail purchases.

In January 2012, MasterCard and Telefónica entered a joint venture to provide mobile financial services in 12 countries in Latin America where Telefónica is represented by the Movistar brand.
