Africa: Clydestone, Cardinal Commerce to enable authentication services, alternative payments Thursday 19 January 2012 | 02:38 PM CET

Electronic payment processing firm Global Switch, powered by Clydestone, a Ghana-based information and communication technology company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with alternative payment services provider Cardinal Commerce, to integrate Cardinal’s technologies and enable e-commerce merchants in Africa to accept 3D authentication services and alternative payments.

Under the terms of the partnership, Global Switch will deploy G-Secure by leveraging Cardinal’s IDENTIFI Authentication Platform, which allows financial institutions to authenticate customers for e-commerce transactions using Verified-by-Visa, MasterCard SecureCode or Secure Access, for online banking applications.

G-Secure will enable merchants to accept payments on their websites by leveraging Cardinal’s Centinel technology, a platform which allows e-commerce merchants worldwide to accept authenticated payments, secure transactions and alternative payment brands on G-Switch.

Clydestone will also offer services via Centinel to international airlines operating in Africa, as well as allow banks, retailers, hospitality outlet, government entity and mobile service providers to use the platform.
