Amazon has revealed plans to discontinue its 3-year PayPhrase e-commerce program, media outlet dailydealmedia.com has unveiled.
On February 2012, the company will officially remove the PayPhrase option, which has been developed to allow shoppers to insert a personal phrase and then a four-digit pin number to verify shipping and payment information.
This was afterwards linked to users’ Amazon accounts which was pre-loaded with their credit card and shipping address.
The other features of PayPhrase including the 1-Click purchase option will continue to allow shoppers to perform online transactions.
Until now, Amazon has not revealed the number of customers who have used PayPhrase nor any future plans to replace the PayPhrase checkout tool. Moreover, consumers worry about their personal user data after the platform will be closed, but the company has mentioned that all personal information will be closely safeguarded once the service is phased out.
Orders placed before 20 of February using PayPhrase and which have not been delivered yet, will not be affected by the company’s decision to remove the service.
In recent news, Amazon launched an online shopping service in India which enables customers to find and discover products from Indian online and offline retailers and from Amazon.com.
