Magento rolls out Magento Mobile mobile platform Thursday 9 September 2010 | 11:12 AM CET

Magento, a global e-commerce technology developer, has launched Magento Mobile, a new mobile platform designed to allow retailers and developers to create iPhone storefront applications in order to bring the functionality of Magento’s e-commerce platform to mobile devices.

The mobile platform will be rolled out worldwide, supporting a variety of brands such as The North Face, ’47 Brand, The Miami Dolphins, Smart & Sexy and FLOWE(RED).With the Magento Mobile application, a merchant’s mobile presence is integrated with their Magento-based e-commerce website, providing customers with online shopping capabilities that incorporate branded design, navigation, search functionality, user account features, merchandising tools, checkout as well as payment applications.

Magento’s mobile platform is currently available in English, French, German and Spanish, with several other languages to follow. Magento’s mobile application can be currently accesed via iPhone, with support for iPad and Android devices to come later in 2010.
