Over 20% of consumers will purchase gifts online for Valentine's Day Wednesday 27 January 2010 | 09:27 AM CET

Twenty-three percent of consumers will shop online for Valentine’s Day gifts, with 9 percent planning to spend more money online, as compared to 2009, according to the eBillme Online Spending Index, a quarterly survey conducted by Javelin Strategy and Research.

The Index polls 1,200 consumers to measure projected online spending for the quarter and according to the Q1 Index, consumers plan to spend an average of USD 236 online. The Online Spending Index is released quarterly by eBillme, an alternative payment services provider.
