Netherlands-based digital security company Gemalto has won a contract from Serbian financial services provider Banca Intesa for the implementation of the former's Ezio Classic reader to secure e-commerce services in the country.
Such a move is part of Banca Intesa's initiative to safeguard its online customers against “card non present” fraud when purchasing goods and services including airline and railway tickets, hotel accommodation, mobile and Internet top-up and consumer electronics. The reader will enable users to make online purchases with the security level guaranteed by the EMV banking card. After having inserted his/her smart card, the user is invited to enter his/her PIN code to receive the One-Time Password (OTP) formatted and displayed by the reader. Ezio Classic is compliant with MasterCard Chip Authentication Program (CAP) and Visa Dynamic Passcode Authentication (DPA) standards.
Gemalto has also made Ezio solutions available on the Chinese, French, Hungarian, Nigerian, the UK and US markets.
